Having successfully transformed myself, nearly a decade ago (and eventually my husband), from traditional authoritarian parenting to peaceful parenting, I have a unique perspective in two styles of parenting and the effects it had on my family.
About Me
I am 45 and am the mother of 3 (teen/young adults). I have been married 22 years.
Becoming a mother was something I always desired and feel so blessed to have been a full time mother.
What I did not anticipate were the hard seasons I would face. How alone, overwhelmed and scared they would leave me. Some of these difficult seasons include:
- Feeling disconnected and burnout as a mom
- Strong emotional behavior in child/teen
- Moving and starting over, several times
- Not having extended family live nearby
- Husband that travels/ solo parenting
- Homeschooling
- Autism diagnosis in toddler
- Navigating Autism w/ young adult
- Teenage years
- Infant with health issues/Failure to Thrive
- Anxiety in child/teen
During these hard seasons, it would have been helpful to have a kindred spirit who offered me empathy and hope. What I have learned in my 20+ years as a mother is you don’t have to face these seasons alone.
Support, empathy and someone listening deeply to the struggles you are facing can make all the difference in helping you shift your mindset and feel supported. Learning tools and strategies for connection, collaboration, curiosity and unconditional love that empowers families and can help you embrace your important job as a mother.
Besides mothering I love spending time with our 3 dogs, cooking, taking walks, reading, learning and hygge living. I graduated from the University Of Missouri- Columbia in 2000 with a degree in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising. I was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
